The Jewish Nation has survived not by its cunning or instincts, but by a clear and divine miracle based on the promise of the Jews being an "Am Tamid" ("an Eternal Nation"). The very survival of the Jewish Nation is a proof of the existence of a Greater Being - perhaps that is the point!
