The Holocaust - A Survivor's Perspective from Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, former Chief Rabbi of Israel. Live Videoconference 17.04.07. Participating Tel Aviv, Brussels, Vienna, Dusseldorf, Athens, Larnaca. Technology provided by the Jewish Agency for Israel. Rabbi Lau was born to a renowned rabbinical family in Poland in 1937. He tragically lost his parents during the Holocaust and, as the youngest survivor of the Buchenwald concentration camp, immigrated to Israel at the tender age of eight. Ordained as a rabbi in 1960, he served as the Chief Rabbi of Netanya, in 1988 he was elected to serve as Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv - Jaffa and in 1993 Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel, serving for ten years.
