Wave Energy - Harnessing the ocean's power to create electricity, science fact or fiction?
The American Electric Power Research Institute issued a new report claiming Wave Energy to become economically feasible in the near future. The World Energy Council estimates that 2TW of energy could be harvested from the world's oceans, the equivalent of twice the world's electricity production. Wave Energy Production is one of the most environmentally benign ways to generate electricity. Shmuel Ovadia, Managing Director of S.D.E. Energy Ltd., has developed a patented method for production of electricity from sea wave energy. At present, he has a patent for energy system (US Patent #5,461,862) for using sea waves. His regular and reserve army service with the Israel Defense Forces was spent in the Engineering Corps, where he developed his keen interest as an inventor.
