About This File
Avinu Malkeinu By Michelle Auslander - Michelle Auslander's life has centered around music since before she could speak. From the time she was three years old, Michelle was always sitting at the piano, figuring out how to play all the melodies she had been surrounded with. With a mother who devoted her life to teaching music in synagogues, and relatives who are at the core of Jewish Music Education in the Chicago land area, it was "beshert" that Michelle also follow a similar path. She received her Jewish Education at the Skokie Solomon Schechter Day School, and continued her education in high school by studying Hebrew. Throughout high school, Michelle was a synagogue music teacher at Northwest Suburban Congregation in Morton Grove, IL. She also was the youngest member of the professional high holiday choir at Temple Solel in Highland Park, IL. Additionally, throughout her years in college, Michelle has taught both hebrew and music at synagogues in northern Virginia and Maryland. Her first experience as cantorial soloist was at Baltimore Hebrew Congregation, where she lead high holiday services. She spent two years as the soprano in a high holiday quartet with internationally acclaimed cantor/opera singer Benjamin Warschawski at B'nai Torah in Boca Raton, FL. While at B'nai Torah, she met her future husband, and soon moved to Florida. After moving to Florida in 2004, Michelle was hired as Cantorial Soloist for Temple Judea in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, where she remained until May 2009. Michelle has done numerous concerts of Jewish Music throughout Florida and Chicago, singing in genres ranging from broadway to opera, and yiddish to cantorial music.
