A rare technical failure forced the crew of the Sufa the F16I fighter jet to land with its only engine no longer burning. During a training flight the rare technical fault was discovered, but thanks resourcefulness of the young pilot and navigator, the dangerous accident was prevented.

Right after discovering the fault, thee crew contacted with control tower, and the squadron bas, and it was decided to turn off the engine. This is a significant and dangerous action which results in an emergency landing.

The process of an emergency landing is one of the most complex emergency procedures. The procedure was carried out with no engine, as the F16 was soaring through the air.

The crew made an emergency landing at the Ramon Israeli Air Force base in southern Israel. There were no casualties or damage in the incident.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are being reviewed in the air force.

The F-16I, the "Sufa", is Israel's newest fighter jet. After the emergency landing, IAF Commander Major General Ido Nechushtan ordered to ground the planes for inspection, the F16s were inspected and all are active, except for the one involved in the emergency landing.
