Tiberias (Tiveria in Hebrew) is a town on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. Tiberias was built in about 20 A.D. by Herod Antipas, the son of Herod the Great on the site of the destroyed village of Rakkat, and it became the capital of his realm in Galilee. It was named in honor of Antipas' patron, the Roman Emperor Tiberius. Today, Tiberias is Israel's most popular holiday resort in the northern part of the country. And contains the gravesites of the most holy of ancient Jewish rabbis, including The Rambam and Rabbi Hillel, among many others. (source: infolive.tv)

The Ancient Water Tunnel of Hezekiah - A 1,750-foot (530m) tunnel carved during the reign of Hezekiah to bring water from one side of the city to the other, Hezekiah's Tunnel is considered one of the greatest works of water engineering technology in the pre-Classical period. It was used to provide water to the Jewish inhabitants of the Old City in ancient days, both in times of peace and war-siege. Had it followed a straight line, the length would have been 1070 ft (335m) or 40% shorter. Delve underneath the busy streets of Jerusalem and discover ancient passageways described in the Bible, that contributed to this city's unique place in history. Discovered in modern times by Edward Robinson (1838), cleared by Montague Parker's team (1909-11), work continues on the Tunnel and related passageways under the direction of Ronny Reich (1995-). Recent work has uncovered some of the archaeological tools and equipment abandoned by the Parker expedition.

Keshet is an independent organization that creates and organizes educationally oriented Israel tours for synagogues, youth groups, Jewish schools, student groups, BJE's, private families and academic institutions. Keshet's founders have been pioneers in the field of youth and Jewish family education in Israel, working together with colleagues and clients in the U.S., Canada and Great Britain. Each trip is structured to reflect the atmosphere, needs and priorities of its community. Having cut our teeth on Israeli and American Jewish youth, we find the world of family education to be a perfect match for our skills as tour guides, counselors, and teachers. Keshet’s programs are meant to use Israel as a context to explore - and often to confront -central ideas in Judaism and Jewish history. The goal is to find common themes - or common challenges - in Jewish history and to look at them throughout the eyes of different generations, including our own.
