The greatest of Jewish musical stars in this century was the awesome Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, who inspired a new generation of musical expression in the Jewish world. Every year in Jerusalem at the Convention Center, a memorial concert is held in which the best-known Jewish musicians play "Shlomo" songs for a packed house of appreciating fans. The great Jewish comedian legend, Harvey Korman, died Thursday in Los Angeles at the age of 81. Korman, a native of Chicago, was a character actor from the beginning, playing the butler in a seventh-grade production of Heidi. In high school he was active in drama club, and after graduating, he enlisted in the Navy during World War II.
